I am a Jack of All Trades - a Master of None and comfortable with that. I don't have the inclination to put huge amounts of time & energy into getting to be perfect at one particular thing. I would indeed say that I'm 'particular' but definitely not a 'perfectionist'. What I put into my creations, with pleasure and love - is a piece of my heart & soul. A 'Pefectionist' I am not, but 'Passionate', I am. I'm passionate about what I'm passionate about - which is about a thousand things & growing daily.
There are simply too many cool things to do in this life for me to be putting all my eggs in one basket. In fact, if I had a basket to carry eggs in, I stuff that old chicken in there too & gather up the twigs & rocks along the way and some flowers and a rabbit and then I'd have to build me a wagon to cart the basket behind me because it would be too darn heavy.
I am, I would say, a Entrepreneur. But that kind of sounds like there's an income attached to that - or least an expectation of one. So I'd better scratch that. I am a 'Createer'. 'Creator' sounds too pretentious - besides, someone already has dibs on that one. I am an 'Imagineer', a 'Visioneer', an 'Experimenteer' - which technically means that I have no idea how to read instructions or work with a pattern so I have to make up my own stuff. And that way, I don't have to follow directions and no one can tell me that I did it wrong.
Every Art or Craft technique that has come along over the past 30 years, has interested me, inspired me - and I've bought all the stuff to do it. My attic studio will confirm that. The cool thing is, after twenty years or so, it ALL comes back again and I'm READY!
I create figurative sculpture from polymer clay, air dry clay, fiber, fabric, wood and pretty well everything else. I needle felt & crazy quilt and love to do any handstitching. I build with wood & carve. I do mixed media collage. I am a 'Bear Artist'. I paint & decorate furniture pieces. I 'alter' everything I can get my hands on, and have been doing that for two dozen years before it became trendy. I teach. I arrange retreats & adventures. I'm a wannabe writer & my dream is to actually finish a story one day. I am photographer & take thousands of photos each year. I'm a graphic designer & create cards & business cards & posters and all that kind of thing. I'm a farmer & have raised donkeys for 25 years. I'm a wife of 35 years, a mother to four awesome, interesting & fun people and grandmother to three delightful, sweet and perfectly wonderful GBs'.
